Step inside a world of pure imagination as Academy Jr. students bring Charlie and the Chocolate Factory JR. to life! This whimsical production gives young performers the opportunity to build skills in acting, singing, dancing, and teamwork while exploring themes of imagination, perseverance, kindness, and staying true to yourself. Through the rehearsal and performance process, students gain confidence, make lasting friendships, and discover that good character can be the sweetest reward of all -- perfectly reflecting Porch Light’s mission of #BuildingCharacters both on and off the stage. Please note: Due to licensing restrictions, we’ve had to make a change to the show title we originally announced, but we’re excited about what’s taking its place! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory JR. is a newly released production, and this will be the very first time Porch Light brings it to our stage. We can’t wait for our Academy Jr. students to be the first Porch Light cast to step into this wonderfully imaginative world and make it their own!
Welcome to Academy Jr, where young performers in grades 2-5 embark on a journey of creativity and self-discovery through theatre! Our program blends the excitement of performance with the art of character building, all set against a theme of journeys and transformations. Students explore acting, singing, and dancing in a fun, cool and welcoming space. They'll dive into vibrant characters, learn catchy tunes, and learn dynamic choreography that brings stories to life. Through interactive workshops and rehearsals, participants not only develop their stage skills but also build confidence, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for the arts.
