YPT Students Shine at OnStage NY Competition

Members of Porch Light's Youth Performance Troupe program - an ensemble of triple threat performers - took home top honors this month at OnStage NY's Hackensack competition including Advanced Teen Soloist, Advanced Junior Vocalist and the Mini Entertainment Award, qualifying the group to perform at Nationals in July.

The troupe performed in the Mini, Junior and Teen Divisions, recieving high recognition across the board. Awards included the Mini Division Entertainment Award for the 'Nicest Kids in Town' (Junior Company), 1st Place Junior Vocalist (Mia Lowy), 2nd Place Overall Junior Soloist Award (Mia Lowy); 9th Place Overall Junior Soloist (Sean Zuckerman), 1st Place Teen Vocalist Award (Gabby Piela), 1st Place Overall Teen Soloist (Gabby Piela), 12th & 13th Place Advanced Teen Soloist Awards (Harrison Gale/Samantha Brady), 4th Place Advanced Teen Duo/Trio Award (Kayla Kirk & Lexi Rosenblum, 'Secondary Characters'), Platinum Awards for Mia Lowy ('Love Will Stand When All Else Falls'), Sean Zuckerman ('Electricity'), Gabby Piela ('Nothing Stops Another Day'), Samantha Brady ('So Much Better'), Harrison Gale ('Ireland'), 'Secondary Character' (Lexi Rosenblum & Kayla Kirk); High Gold Awards for 'At the Ballet' (Tricia Whyte & Patricia Joseph), 'Razzle Dazzle' (Kieran Power), 'Why Cause I'm a Guy' (Jack Miller & Patrick Meyer); Gold Awards for 'Nicest Kids in Town' (Junior Company), 'Scenes From An Italian Restaurant' (Senior Company), 'We Can Do It' (Abbie Anderson & Edie Crowley), 'Don't Let Me Go' (Michael Crowe), 'Some Things Were Meant To Be' (Tina Rivara, Isabelle Siegel, Leah Flanzman, Molly Sokota, Emily McCarthy), 'All That Jazz' (Jessica Ruby & Kathryn Kearney); Judges Awards for Showmanship and Vocals, Future Album Purchase, Fierce Acting, Standout Guy and more!

Porch Light's YPT program offers advanced training and performance opportunities to students dedicated to their training in musical theatre. The Junior company, comprised of elementary and early middle schoolers will perform in the upcoming production of 'How To Eat Like a Child', May 2-5. Members of the Senior Company - middle and high schoolers - will be performing at Glen Rock's Relay for Life as well as their final production of the season, 'Smile', June May 31-June 8.
